Jealousy

I just found out that a certain person that has tried before to get my son in trouble and slander his name is now saying that he really isn't in California - he's in jail in Tempe for stealing a car. WRONG! I'm going to say my source is credible since she has a vested interest in Michael. As for the person spreading the rumors - work on fixing your own life instead of being jealous of someone that is. Jealousy is such an evil thing...I'm praying for you. And as for the rest of you little losers, I don't want to hear from you telling me what an awful person I am. REMINDER: I'm not the one on Drugs!  Here's to you Michael - keep doing what you're doing. I love you and I'm extremely proud of you!

National Hairstyle Day

Today is National Hairstyle Day and National Honesty Day I'm not going to lie, especially since it's National Honesty Day, but my hair is frickin driving me crazy! But, I'm going to embrace my fro today in honor of National Hairstyle Day. Love your hair today and don't lie... save your lies for tomorrow!

Celebrity Apprentice...

It's Monday so you know I'm talking about Celebrity Apprentice. You also know that I've been a cheerleader for Dayana Mendoza week after week, but last night she irritated the hell out of me. She was horrible as the Project Manager and in the Boardroom she was condescending and arrogant. The task was to write a jingle for Good Sam and she thought jingles was a Christmas thing.( Jingle Bells) Need I say more. Lisa explodes as expected, but this task I can't blame her. I felt Dayana was working on pushing her buttons in hopes that Donald Trump would side with her in the boardroom by saying Lisa is loud, disrespectful, and obnoxious. Don't we all already know that? The boardroom did get heated with Lisa and Dayana as Clay sat composed shaking his head.                           “This is not Celebrity Miss Universe. This is Celebrity Apprentice, honey. So if you can’t hang with the big boys, I suggest you don’t talk so much.”  I know it's rude, but kind
Boobs is what I woke up thinking that I was going to write about. I don't why I thought boobs - maybe after watching Don't Be Tardy For The Wedding and Kim talking about showing side boob in her wedding dress. What do you think about showing side boob? Anyhoo, typically I just go with what pops in my head when I sit to blog, but by the time I got to the computer I started sending out press releases for The Shutter Release Project, so now that's where my mind is...no boob story! I want to say how excited and proud I am of Eric Winfield. He had a vision and a dream that is soon to become a reality. It hasn't been an easy road getting there either. I know this because I have been working with Eric since day 1, and I know of the broken promises, the lack of support, and of those rooting for failure. Eric and I have had many discussions on the stumbling blocks that have crossed our paths, and continue to cross our paths today. But, isn't that the way the devil work

Don't Be Tardy..

I know everyone has already watched Don't Be Tardy For The Wedding with Kim Zolciak, but I watched Scandal the night that Kim's show aired, so I'm just catching up. I have always liked Kim and felt for her dealing with the senseless drama on RHOA. I hope the days of  her wig trying to be pulled off to being attacked by NeNe and attacked about  "Big Poppa" are long behind her.                                                                                                                                                     I liked Don't Be Tardy For The Wedding, it was entertaining without drama, and yes, I will tune in again - especially since she's going to take her wig off. I can only wish that I could pull off wearing wigs - I look like a transvestite in one, and not a pretty one at that. I can't wait to see more of Kim's friend Jen, who is nothing like the women that we're use to seeing on RHOA. She's a bit over weight, plain, and

National Morse Code Day...

Today is National Morse Code Day National Tell A Story Day and National Arbor Day Well I know that Morse Code is off my to do list, and I probably won't get around to planting trees, but I did tell a story in my blog this morning, so honoring one National Holiday is better than none... don't you think?

Taking You Back..

What About Your Friends Happy Friday...taking you back to one of my faves.TLC!

At What Age

Yesterday I talked about how I'm working with a group of women on speaking to children about bullying and accepting differences. So yesterday when I took Makenna to the park five little kids, (3 girls and 2 boys) were running around going up and down the slides. As Makenna made her way up the steps and to their level, she couldn't get pass their little huddle. I stood below curious what type of interaction was about to take place. One of the little girls said, "I love Hello Kitty too!" Makenna was wearing a Hello Kitty t-shirt. The other little girl also expressed her love for the t-shirt and the boys did what boys do, showed how they were King of the slide and could go down head first. They all played with no other exchange of words - just laughter as they chased one another. At what age do we tarnish our children's acceptance - they aren't born with judgements and hatred. Not one of the kids mentioned Makenna's skin color or curly hair, but we all kn

We All Need A Hero

Yesterday I had a photo shoot at my house with Sara, owner of Ser'en-dip'i-te.  http://www.photosbyserendipity.com/index.html We were talking about how we met and how we both are believers in divine intervention. I have always believed that there are no coincidences in life...just God's plan. Later that afternoon I had a meeting with approximately 20 women. As I sat listening to introductions I started thinking about my conversation with Sara, and how Lynn came into my life.(her meeting and her foundation) When I stood to introduce myself I mentioned how I met Lynn through her brother Michael. Lynn stood and told the story of Michael's accident - how he had been bullied from childhood thru adulthood. She went on to say that he never had any real friends, but one day he was talking about his friend Carolyn, and kept talking about his friend Carolyn . She said, " I finally asked, who is this Carolyn lady?"  She looked at me and said, "thank you - you

National Princess Week

What have you done for National Princess Week?  http://d23.disney.go.com/news/2012/04/the-first-annual-national-princess-week-begins-april-22/ Curious... is there going to be a National Prince Week too?

Seriously, Ma'am?

I was thumbing through the paper last night and came across the Blondie comic strip. Blondie was offended that a young man called her MA'AM. She said to her husband Dagwood, "Honestly! Do I Look Like A MA'AM To You?" I remember having that same reaction in my late 20's when the cashier in his early 20's said, thank you Ma'am as he handed me my receipt. I was in shock! When did I become a Ma'am - that was my mom, not me! Why are we so offended - it is polite and proper, but "Miss" is a more youthful term, so for me "miss" to "ma'am" was a direct indication that I was no longer 18. If you haven't been hit by the Ma'am bomb yet, be prepared because it's coming. For those of us that have already been hit - there's no going back, so just embrace it and smile. Do you think that's why Safeway reads your name on your receipt before thanking you? Happy Wednesday!!!

Not My Fat Jeans

I really don't know what happened... my fat jeans are too tight! No scales, just jeans is how I have always maintained my weight. Jeans make you accountable for every pound and every inch - I have jeans that range from a size 5 to a size 9, and lately I've been pulling my size 9 jeans up my legs like I'm putting pantyhose on. I've worked out most of my life - taught aerobics for years, spent 2 hours in the gym each day, walk at night and taught Zumba not that long ago. So what happened? I got in my "I don't give a shit" mood. Why? Because I'm home all day and can wear yoga pants - which would be fine if I actually did yoga. Also, my 2 year old granddaughter expects me to eat every time I feed her. Let's face it - there's a huge difference in a 2 year old and a 53 year old metabolism. She's sporting the cute little body with just enough baby fat where you say things like, I love her little rolls, and look at her cute little bel

Don't Forget!

Don't forget about The Shutter Release Project...Coming May 26, 2012 @ Icehouse Phoenix
So what did you think of Penn being fired last night on Celebrity Apprentice? “I can tell you the rules of chess, but I can’t tell you the rules of Celebrity Apprentice. That’s what’s beautiful about it.” – Penn Jillette The teams were tasked with creating a display and slogan for Trump’s new fragrance - Success. Penn was fired for coming up with his team’s slogan, “You Earned it” I don't have much to say about last nights Apprentice- personally I thought it was boring and uneventful. As much as I can't stand Lisa Lampanelli and her crazy outbursts, at least it adds some fire to the show. I thought for a minute that Arsenio Hall was going to give me something when he tried taking credit for the slogan and Aubrey was quick to correct him, but he was a man of few words as he nodded with his goofy cheesy grin. So, I'm hoping next week will have more to offer.

New Gig

On our way to bartend... no, I don't have a party hat on Last night I went as a bartender to a wedding reception, which was my first experience with bartending. I went with my daughter Melissa(ex-bartender) and my daughter Kelsey. I was a bit apprehensive about this gig, but it turned out to be a fun night with great music, good food, and way too much alcohol. I really don't know how people bartend for a living though. First of all, trying to hear with the DJ  blaring music was a challenge. At one time I thought a guy asked for a quarter, but he said water, and another person I thought asked for Tupac. Then you have the ones that just set their cup on the bar and look at you. I looked back just as intense and said, "what, do you want a drink?" I'm all about using your words. When he said yes, he also expected me to remember what he was drinking. He said,"you don't remember?" I wouldn't ask what you wanted if I remembered... there's
Last night the Real Housewives of Atlanta's Reunion aired again, so I watched the last 30 minutes of it. What I watched was was pretty calm - they were actually allowing each other to speak. But, when Marlo Hampton took a seat on the couch it got loud and out of hand. I have to say it was pretty funny when Marlo  told Kim that she was a whore. She sounded like she was in her first kindergarten play with her one line - "you're a whore." It was over rehearsed and not delivered well. And by the way, who is she to call people names - she's been arrested more than the seven times she admits on the show. I don't care about her sad story - her mother was abusive, on drugs, an alcoholic, she came straight from the projects, there was no father around, and we didn't walk in her shoes. My life was shitty too and guess what Marlo, I didn't slash a girls face open in a bar ( In 2005, 6 years after Marlo Hampton viciously disfigured her face, the 33 year old Fl
I'm beyond exhausted this morning and have a crap load of things to accomplish before my 2 year old granddaughter comes at 7:30 - my life pretty much ends after that. I have a photo shoot at my house today with Makenna (2 year old) which I already know is gong to be a challenge. Also, I'm working like a crazy woman on The Shutter Release Project. www.theshutterrelease.com  You know all the work involved in putting on an event. And as for the rest of my day, it will consist of me living up to my Domestic Diva duties. So you remember last week I went to a class reunion that wasn't mine but my cover was blown before I got inside - fun time!  Okay, so Saturday I'm going to bartend at a wedding reception. This wouldn't be a big deal, but I've never bartended in my life and I really don't have a steady hand, so I'll let you know how this one goes. Have a fabulous Friday!

Dick Clark "America's oldest teenager." My memories of Dick Clark is probably what most of us remember, "American Bandstand."  It changed the way we listened to pop music and introduced us to new dance moves.                                                               I loved how in between performances Dick Clark would chat with the teens, who helped "rate-a-record," turning songs into sensations.I think most of us as teens watching longed to be a part of it all.                 Everyone showed up on "American Bandstand," from Elvis Presley to Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry to Chubby Checker, Ike and Tina Turner, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, and Simon & Garfunkel to name a few. His shows were among the first where blacks and whites performed on the same stage and the live audience seating was desegregated. Clark's eternally youthful look earned him the nickname "America's Oldest Teenager."  H

You Want To Know What?

I get emails asking me questions that I typically answer on a personal level, but this one I thought I'd blog. Question: Who are you? I am a wife that has been married to the same man since I was 18, a mother of five and grandmother of 8. I feel those are my bragging rights, but me as an individual - I'm a spiritual individual that loves writing, dancing, fitness, fashion, and life in general. I always thought that I could save the world - I'm still working on it. Question: What are your dislikes? I really hate washing silverware - hate putting it in the dishwasher, and hate putting it away. I dislike bullies no matter what age they are. Don't like rude and pretentious people. Not a fan of drama, don't like disloyal people and I don't like beef. Question: What do you do for fun? Drink! No, the things I do for fun no one else would classify as fun, but fun for me is crafts, re-decorating, taking pictures, gardening, going to Goodwill and hanging out at hom

Culinary Festival

The Scottsdale Culinary Festival is happening April 17-22 http://www.scottsdalefest.org/article/scottsdale-culinary-festival-reaches-new-heights-in-2012 There's 50 plus food and beverage exhibitors at the 34th Annual Scottsdale Culinary Festival. The Scottsdale Culinary Festival was started by Scottsdale League for the Arts, a non-profit organization of volunteers that dedicated themselves to supporting local arts programs.                                                               They have raised 3.5 million for the arts since 2002. The one that I wanted to go to tomorrow is already sold out - Chocolate and Wine Experience, but there's others that I'm interested in, such as Eat Drink & Be Pretty. So if you're looking for something to do? Support your community and support the arts.
I was a Housewives addict, but after a few years of watching constant bickering and back stabbing, I'm not as loyal of a fan anymore. I maybe tuned into a total of two episodes of  The Housewives of Atlanta this season - couldn't handle grown women acting like they're still in high school. I never see them do anything positive in their lives or for their community. Nene likes to say, "I'm rich." So give back and quit bragging. But, I will check out Kim's new show, Don't Be Tardy For The Wedding. She's the one in the group that has managed to stay out of the drama and focus on her family and new husband.                                                 My thought was to watch the Atlanta reunion show at the end of the season, but after a minute of hearing Nene run her mouth and pointing her giant finger, I was done with that as well.                     Which brings me to Shahs of Sunset by Ryan Seacrest. I told myself not to tune in...don&#

Puppets and Improv

As you all know by now I have been a fan of The Apprentice since its birth. The one's that have survived Celebrity Apprentice so far are Lisa Lampanelli,  Dayana Mendoza, Teresa Giudice, Clay Aiken, Arsenio Hall, Aubrey O'Day, and Penn Jillette. Paul Teutul, Sr was fired last night which I think he was thankful for. He was the task manager and was truly uninterested and unmotivated through the entire task. Most shots of Paul was of him sitting and yawning. He left when fired with dignity - entered the elevator and drove off with the driver like all the rest. Now wouldn't you have wanted to see him ride off on one of his choppers? After we all thought from last week that Lisa and Dayana had kissed and made up it was back to Lisa doing her thing when it comes to Dayana. When Clay suggested giving Dayana something to do on stage Lisa flipped out telling Dayana, “How about this?” Lisa yelled. “Do whatever the f--- you want! You know what? You’re a f---ing pain in the ass.

What's Your Name

Arlene in the bright sweater Coach and Arlene I've been hanging out with my friend Arlene and a few of her classmates from Paradise Valley High School. A couple months ago they talked about their class reunion and suggested that I come. I told them to give me a name of someone that I could pretend to be so I could see how many classmates would act like they knew me. So last night was the big night  - when we arrived Arlene started quizzing me before we got out of the car with what's your name, where do you live, and what year did you graduate? We get to the door and had to stop for a name tag. As Arlene was getting hers I was slipping past to walk in inconspicuously, when she turned and said, "Do you want a name tag?"  Well that was the end of my cover. When she asked what my name was I replied Beverly as instructed, she looked at me puzzled and said, "Who?" Arlene said, " Don't you remember Beverly?" as her classmate Rick walk
I just love Glee!

It's Only 99 Cents!

I was at the 99 Cent store the other day, which by the way is genius. Does anyone every walk out with one item -I spent almost $50. There's things you would never buy and probably don't need, but who cares... it's only 99 cents. Which brings me to something I found. They had giant letters and number that are made of wood. How could I pass these up! I've been working on trying to brighten up my brown room. The walls are venetian plaster so I don't want to paint over them, and for now it's just the playroom/nap room for my granddaughter. Here's what I did. The color is off since I shot this outside, but I decoupaged them with scrap booking paper that had orange, hot pink, yellow and lime green in stripes, flowers and polka dots. After they dried I sprayed them with clear gloss. It was an easy and fun project that took 30 minuets or so to do. I was thinking it would be cool to buy the numbers for my address and spray paint them. I'm just not s

Scrabble and Peach Cobbler

Today is National Peach Cobbler Day and Scrabble Day. I love peach cobbler! It was always served with our Sunday dinner when I was growing up. My father always used canned peaches in his. I did the same for years until I started using Paula Deen's recipe with fresh peaches. It's easy and delicious! As for Scrabble, I have only played the children's version so I have little knowledge of the game. Since my family doesn't play games well I'm not even going to suggest a game of scrabble in honor of the day. If you're interested in the history of scrabble here you go.  http://www.scrabble-assoc.com/info/history.html Happy Friday... have a scrabble game night with some homemade peach cobbler. Don't forget the wine!

Natural and Loving it!

I started following Black Woman Natural Hairstyles www.blackwomennaturalhairstyles.com  I love all the beautiful women and their natural hairstyles that she shows. I don't remember seeing natural hairstyles other than Afros when I was growing up. Although I didn't relax my hair until I was in my 20's I continued the process through my 40's. Finally in my 50's I decided no more harsh chemicals on my hair - so natural it is. You're probably saying who cares about now, but I wish I had better role models of black women that embraced their natural hair when I was growing up so I didn't buy into how I thought my hair should be as a young adult. Since I was a child several women, including my family members would say they want to go natural but can’t. It's because most of us had heard since we were young that our hair is way too kinky or too nappy.   As a small child I would watch my Aunt Lurlean heat up the hot comb on the stove and straighte

Eight Track Day & Cheese Fondue Day

Today is National Cheese Fondue Day and National Eight-Track Tape Day I'm not sure if there's any 8 tracks around, but listen to some oldies in honor of the day. Here's a Cheese Fondue recipe to help with the celebration. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/cheese-fondue-recipe/index.html

The 'N' Word

I know this is old news, but I watched The View yesterday when Whoopi Goldberg talked about how she agreed with CNN anchor Don Lemon that journalists should say the full n-word on air while reporting stories. I'm black and find that particular word to be very degrading and offensive. But, I agree with Lemon that saying 'the n-word.' takes the value out of what that word really means when they're reporting it, regardless of what color the reporter is. Lemon said, "I think someone should say, that person called someone 'nigger,' instead of saying 'the n-word,' because I think it sanitizes it." I agree with that. I also agree with Whoopi. "Do not eliminate it," she said. "It's part of our history." And Barbara Walters went on to say, "We're quoting somebody else, and it's intrinsic to what the person was saying, then you have to be able to say it." Whoopi added, "That's what reporters ar

National Golfers and Siblings Day

Today is National Golfers Day, and National Siblings Day - So give your siblings a holler. Maybe you should grab the golf clubs and hit some balls with them. One of my children used the golf club to whack her sibling in the head a few years ago... I'm not recommending reaching out if you have issues with your sibling. But for the rest of you, enjoy that special person that you never asked for.

What's Quiet

I sat down at my computer last night to blog since I couldn't handle watching The Voice or The The Housewives of Atlanta. I love The Voice but this season isn't doing it for me, and I've been a Housewives fan since creation, but the Housewives of Atlanta was off my list since it started up again. It only took a few minutes of listening and looking at those caddy judgemental grown ass women acting like their still in high school to reaffirm why I had stopped watching . The only one that is tolerable is Kim Zolciak, and honestly, I don't know how she does it - they are some crazy black women.                               Anyway, I figured my 2 year old granddaughter is gone, everyone is in different areas of my house, it's nice and quiet so I can actually think - Wrong! First I have my 12 year old granddaughter plop on the exercise ball beside me playing with ice and her straw in a plastic cup while telling me a story. Next there's issues in the courtyard abo

Happy Monday!

Have an Awesome Monday....Be thankful & follow your DREAMS today & everyday!

Heated up in the Board Room

I'm a huge fan of Celebrity Apprentice - I have to admit that I was beyond thrilled that Lou Ferrigno was finally fired and remained fired after telling Donald Trump, “Take it back!” I really didn't know how much more I could take of Lou doing practically nothing in each task, and then throwing people on his team under the bus in the board room. But tonight he picked the wrong one to try and take down - Lisa Lampanelli. Come on, she makes her living chewing people up and spitting them out. I can't believe Lou even started that fight. He kept whining that Lisa called him a "f---ing loser" after Dee Snider was fired. Who cares, get over it! I wanted him to be fired just for being a cry baby and tattling... what are you, two? He moved on to say, "Lisa's lucky not to be a man tonight, because I would throw her right through that wall." Lisa was quick to say, "If you physically threaten me again, there's going to be a problem." &qu
