Just Say Thank You

I'm not sure at what age I learned to appreciate and acknowledge what others do for me; but as an adult it is something that I always practice. People have their own lives to manage, and we're all busy juggling what life throws at us unexpectedly, so the fact that someone takes the time to do kind and thoughtful things for me cannot go without acknowledgement as far as I'm concerned. I'm talking about a simple thank you that can now be sent through a text. I'm probably one of the rare breeds that loves to send cards, so I don't have that expectation from others. I'm sure most of you are saying that I shouldn't have any expectations, but I do. I believe in the words  thank you, and it is the two words that we are taught as toddlers. We hand them something and almost immediately we ask, now what do you say, and they mutter thank you . So from this day forward I will say, now what do you say , to those that have forgotten that lesson. Furthermore,...

Happy Friday

It's Friday and I'm thankful and blessed to partake it. Within the past week I have had two friends that have been diagnosed with cancer; along with having friends that are struggling with addiction, depression, and financial hardship. I know that we all know of someone that is struggling with something in their life, but if it's not our personal struggle we sometimes forget that life can be difficult for others. Life doesn't always turn out to be the journey that we have imagined, so it's understandable that it's difficult to be thankful at times. But we need to cherish each day that we're given regardless of what we're walking through - open your eyes and your heart to the little miracles that we're blessed with each day. It took me years to get there, but even on my worst days I'm thankful for it. I only get one chance at  life and I'm going to live it by really living. For me that requires taking chances, having no regrets, sharing ...

Thankful and Blessed

Each morning when I wake I am always thankful to be blessed with another day. This morning when I woke I was reminded that 14 years ago I was at a stage 4 with cancer. December 2013 marks 14 years of me being cancer free. I was at my best I thought 14 years ago. I had always been a clean eater, and at that time in my life I was spending 2-3 hours in the gym along with hiking regularly. I looked great but wasn't feeling great. I started having weird cravings for ice chips and carrots, and I was feeling tired and weak most days. But I continued life as I knew it. After months of ignoring how I was feeling I finally decided to search for a doctor. I grew up with home remedies and very little doctor visits - I am not one to have a family doctor. I decided to take the advice of a magazine that had a list of the top ten doctors in Phoenix, and was fortunate enough to get in. I struggled with the how's and the why me at the beginning. I shouldn't be sick with the healthy life...
It's that time of a year again when people stop for a moment and actually reflect on what they are thankful for. It's unfortunate that most of us don't take the time each day to give thanks for all that we are blessed with. There's a lot going on in the lives of many of my close friends and family this year, Although I'm saddened by their struggles I'm extremely thankful that we're in each others lives. Give thanks!

Happy Monday!

Happy Place

I'm always on twitter...today I found Things To Be Happy About while I was on it. I'm happy someone is posting daily things to be happy about - there's always something for us to embrace and be thankful for, and those things should bring us happiness. As for me, before my feet hit the floor in the morning I'm thanking God for blessing me with another day, thankful for friends, family, health, shelter, food - for a body that functions and a mind that works. Being blessed with these things that are often taken for granted create happiness for me.                                                                 I believe everyone has happiness and should find their happy. I personally don't think what makes people happy is based on material items or success. I feel it's your outlook on life, faith, and the quality of your rela...
