Showing posts with the label women
Its been awhile since I've sat my butt down in front of the laptop to blog, but today I feel the need to vent. My vent stems from the Calvin Klein "Plus-Sized" controversy. Honestly, I wanted to vent prior to this when I read some of the ridiculous comments regarding Meghan Trainor's song, All About That Bass. Here's my first thought. Do you not have anything better to do? There's quite a few things that I think are worthy of gaining attention for women other than their size. I have weighed anywhere from 103 - 143 and guess what - it didn't change who I am as a person. My clothing size may have gone from a 3 to a 9, but I still had the same values and beliefs, and I continued to function in my life without any setbacks. My weight doesn't define who I am as a human being. Also, if you're not directly associated with me my life is really none of your business. I  think that most of the women that don't fit into your cookie cutter mold will ...
I started watching Braxton Family Values on Netflix a few months ago and I love it. I was watching the reunion show last week and something that Tamar (one of the sisters) said I thought was a great message to all women. She said, "To all women, family, sisters - Be cautious of who you decide to be with because they can either make you stronger with your family or they can break your family apart. " What a true and profound statement that I agree with completely. Since I was young I always said that my family came before any man, and I didn't have a family like the Braxton's. My husband would never separate or make me choose him or his family over mine - if he did, we wouldn't be together. As a mother it takes a lot of time and hard work to raise your children to be close and continue that relationship into adulthood. I have no respect for any man that separates or breaks the family unit. In fact, I don't have any respect for the woman that allows ...
Happy Wednesday! I initially was going to blog about The Real Housewives of Orange County Reunion Show last night, but I decided it really wasn't that interesting and I'm getting tired of every reality show coming off looking like women can't get along. We all know there's mean girls (women) that are insecure and demand being the center of attention and live to make everyone but their flunky's life miserable, so do we really need to get a group of women with that personality to pretend that they like each other and say that they're friends, but stab each other in the back every other day. I don't have friends like that. I want to applaud and embrace the women that are empowering other women... why don't they have a reality show? Did you know that today is  National Blueberry Muffin Day National Cheer Up The Lonely Day & World Population Day On my way to mix up a batch of blueberry muffins and find a lonely person to cheer up... Have a ...

What's Wrong With Bald?

As I sat in the car at Fry's Electronics waiting for my husband, I was doing my usual people watching. It was all pretty uneventful until I noticed a young woman getting out of her car looking stylish and sporting a bald head. I don't find that to be extremely unusual, but apparently others do. I kept my eye on her once I noticed people walking past her and turning their head like she was a freak of nature. She walked with a bounce in her step like she was loving life and didn't have a care in the world. I admired her confidence as she held her head high looking in the eye of those passing by, but people continually turned their heads in the other direction like they would insult her by looking her way. Remember, I'm a black woman, and believe me I know that body language well. My question is why? This was a young attractive white woman, so color wasn't the issue. Are we really so shallow that we have even become brain washed by what a woman's hair should look...
