Party Time!

My husband and I always do a party for our birthdays. My birthday was in February and his is in March, so this year since it's our 55 I thought it would be fun to do a joint dinner party on March 1st. I planned at least a month ago...made reservations, printed invitations of us doing the oh so popular selfies, and I found a fabulous vintage dress which goes with the theme of the venue - The Duce. http://theducephx.com/ I heard rumors of rain at the beginning of the week, which I felt is kind of a problem since we have to pick up our food from a food truck outside and eat in a warehouse that has no heating. Should I cancel or go on with the party was my thought. I decided we can do it since the temp is suppose to be 66 and they will bring out space heaters per request. But, on Tuesday I somehow hurt the ball of my foot and could barely put pressure on it...how am I going to walk in heels - better yet, how am I going to dance??? Again, my thought was should I cancel, but thankfu...
Yesterday was a day of food, kids, and yes, The Almighty Water Slide!  It was a birthday party for my niece and I think everyone had a good time. The kids all played together well, the food was good, the adults were able to catch up and no injuries. Okay, on to my next subject. Joan Rivers says you should have 4 topics to be able to discuss at a dinner party. Well, it wasn't a dinner party but six of us were sitting around talking last night when Gloria Vanderbilt's name came up. I was thinking, now this is a subject I know... my daughter says, "Who is she?" Perfect I'm thinking, so I say, "She's a socialite and fashion designer known for her designer jeans, and the mother of Anderson Cooper." "What? I didn't know that, really Anderson Cooper?" is the chatter around the room. You know what happens next... everyone grabs their phones to google. I hear someone say, " Did you know Ander...

Happy 9th Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my grandson Jaden - 9 years old today! I have 8 grandchildren and 5 children - I admit I'm the worst when it comes to remembering their ages. In fact, my sister called yesterday to ask how old Jaden was going to be; my response was 8 or 9, but I know for sure not 10. I decided I better call my son to get the correct age - he's turning 8 I was told, so I called my sister along with putting a picture of Jaden on facebook that said, " I can't believe he's going to be 8 tomorrow." This morning my son stops by and says, "Oh mom, he's 9 - I called him last night at 1am in the morning from work and said Happy Birthday, how does it feel to be 8?" Jaden said, " Dad, I'm 9." So I did my correction on facebook this morning and I now know that my son is not the go to person for ages. I always  go by the year I was born to get my correct age, or I ask one of my grandchildren. So here's to a day of family time...
