We All Need A Hero

Yesterday I had a photo shoot at my house with Sara, owner of Ser'en-dip'i-te.  http://www.photosbyserendipity.com/index.html We were talking about how we met and how we both are believers in divine intervention. I have always believed that there are no coincidences in life...just God's plan. Later that afternoon I had a meeting with approximately 20 women. As I sat listening to introductions I started thinking about my conversation with Sara, and how Lynn came into my life.(her meeting and her foundation) When I stood to introduce myself I mentioned how I met Lynn through her brother Michael. Lynn stood and told the story of Michael's accident - how he had been bullied from childhood thru adulthood. She went on to say that he never had any real friends, but one day he was talking about his friend Carolyn, and kept talking about his friend Carolyn . She said, " I finally asked, who is this Carolyn lady?"  She looked at me and said, "thank you - you...

Not My Fat Jeans

I really don't know what happened... my fat jeans are too tight! No scales, just jeans is how I have always maintained my weight. Jeans make you accountable for every pound and every inch - I have jeans that range from a size 5 to a size 9, and lately I've been pulling my size 9 jeans up my legs like I'm putting pantyhose on. I've worked out most of my life - taught aerobics for years, spent 2 hours in the gym each day, walk at night and taught Zumba not that long ago. So what happened? I got in my "I don't give a shit" mood. Why? Because I'm home all day and can wear yoga pants - which would be fine if I actually did yoga. Also, my 2 year old granddaughter expects me to eat every time I feed her. Let's face it - there's a huge difference in a 2 year old and a 53 year old metabolism. She's sporting the cute little body with just enough baby fat where you say things like, I love her little rolls, and look at her cute little bel...

Zumba Night

Zumba was my choice of exercise last night for the first time in a long time. My daughter was subbing a Zumba class at  her gym so naturally I attended. We're both certified instructors, but it's been over two years since I've taught or participated in a class.  http://www.zumba.com/  It kicked my butt, but felt amazing. I love any type of aerobic exercise that involves dance with upbeat music, which is exactly what Zumba gives you. Also, it's amazing how many calories you burn in an hour. I encourage everyone that wants a fun way to get in shape to find a class and give it a try. Initially the first class can be a bit intimidating only because they yell out moves such as salsa, samba, or beto  - unfamiliar dance moves to most, but once you get the steps down, it's a blast. THE ORIGINAL "FITNESS-PARTY" As a fitness instructor in his native Cali, Colombia, Beto's life took an unexpected turn one fateful day in the mid-'90s when he darted off...
