This week I've had some clarity regarding certain people in my life. I have always been really good about moving on because when I'm done, I'm done. But this particular situation has had me so irritated I keep re-living it in my mind. So today when I woke up I decided not to have an agenda and just take some time out of the house, clear my mind, and enjoy a day with no schedule. I ended up spending most of the afternoon at the park with four of my grandchildren. I snapped pictures, spoke to a couple of moms, and entertained a 20 month old that decided she was going to be my best friend.                                                                                                                   ...

At What Age

Yesterday I talked about how I'm working with a group of women on speaking to children about bullying and accepting differences. They all played with no other exchange of words - just laughter as they chased one another. At what age do we tarnish our children's acceptance - they aren't born with judgements and hatred. Not one of the kids mentioned Makenna's skin color or curly hair, but we all kn...

Miss Bossy Pants

Miss Bossy Pants and Grandma/Nanny I was at the park with my 2 year old granddaughter when a little girl around 3 years of age came over basically to let us know that she was the boss of the playground. She was telling Makenna where she could go and what she could do. Finally I said in a polite voice, "She's only 2." She yelled, " SO! My brother's only 2 and he can do what I say."  I  decided that was my red flag - time to remove ourselves from the situation. So I packed up the stroller and went over to the swings. But, before I got a push in, along comes Miss Bossy Pants telling Makenna to pump as she screamed instructions like a drill sargent. Up and down, up and down she chanted while getting on the swing  next to us. Thankfully two other women walked over for their kids to swing - they became blessed with her instructions. Soon she was bored with each of us since we all ignored her comments and demands - except for Makenna who was soaking it all in. ...
