Dancing & Dining in the Desert

My neighbor Sue surprised with a fabulous Mother's Day gift.

Yesterday evening Sue and her daughter Diana took me to the Desert Botanical Garden to see Topia by Ballet Arizona - World Premiere by lb Anderson - Beethoven's Symphony No. 6

"Topia" is something new for Andersen and Ballet Arizona. It is a 45-minute ballet choreographed not only for outdoor performance but for a large stage, set against the Papago Buttes, where nature, Beethoven and the dancers all vie for our attention." http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/ae/articles/2012/04/12/20120412ballet-arizona-permier-new-ballet-topia-botanical-garden.html

We dined and had cocktails enjoying the beautiful desert as we waited for Ballet Arizona to take stage.

The ballet waited until sunset to perform - beautiful performance with the mountains and cactus as their backdrop.

This performance ends May 26,2012 - I highly recommend seeing it.

How's Your Sleep

OMG Facts tweeted yesterday that you can survive days without eating but will live 11 days from not sleeping.  http://www.omg-facts.com/  I'm teetering on being sleep deprived at the moment. My 2 year old granddaughter has been staying the night and she won't sleep in her room.  She is a 2 year old that is the height of most 4 year olds, and she sleeps horizontally. It's not bad the nights that I get her head in my chest, but when its a night of the feet and getting kicked... forget about it. No sleep! I did some research and of course there has always been pros and cons about children sleeping in the same bed. Dr. Phil is opposed to it  - one of his reasons is it can cause regressive behavior.  http://drphil.com/articles/article/114  Personally I disagree - I loved having my kids by me and saw no side effects from it. They knew that they were always welcome in my bed, so naturally the same rule goes for the grandkids. It's just this is the first time h...
I left early this morning to get some shopping done, and I have to be honest - not ready to be sold on Christmas  I know it's the way retail works - I put many years into that industry, but I truly hate how overly commercialized Christmas is. They brainwash people and kids into thinking they have to have the newest and best of everything, and most people buy into the lie.  But what about the kids that their parents can't fall into the trap because financially they just can't do it. Are they made fun of or shunned by their peers because they don't have the newest clothes, gadgets, or toys?  Do they feel inferior or not worthy enough to receive - according to the advertisers you have to have it. It's not fair or right and I hate it!                                                               I think we all need to ...
