My Friend

As I sipped my coffee and read through my emails this morning, my mind kept slipping away to thoughts of a very good friend of mine. We met when I moved to Phoenix in 1989. We have had one disagreement and lots of ups and downs that just happen to workout when one of us is going through a rough time the other has already been through it. How awesome is that! A Friend is one to whom one may pour out the contents of      one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the      gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth      keeping and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away.                                                                             - Arabian Proverb This is her rough time and I've already lived ...
My craft day that I planned yesterday turned out to be Makenna making nail polish. Madison stood me up to go to Jump Street with a friend. I got a tip from my friend Deborah to have Makenna use white glue and glitter for her nail polish - that's what we did.  Great idea for the young ones! This morning I'm getting together with my friend Carol that's been in Hawaii since May watching her first grandchild. She's only here for a week and it's back to Hawaii, so we're doing coffee at her house for a quick catch up on life. Yesterday was a relaxing day for me since I had the house to myself for most of the day. I love my solitude and its been a long time since I've experienced it. I was able to have a phone conversation with no interruptions, surf the web for new boots, and actually drink and enjoy several cups of coffee... loving life! But all good things must come to an end  -  today I'm going to tackle the dreaded jacuzzi room that has become my storage. I really want someone to pull the jacuzzi out and make the room a sitting area/ closet/arts and craft room. I have visions of that room being my go to place for peace and quiet.                                                                                                       ...
I woke up way too early this morning.  Yesterday Makenna was playing with Tom's phone so we woke up to an alarm that sounded like the phone ringing at 4am. I will be ready for bed by 7 tonight. I read a few devotionals before I ventured out of bed to make my way to the coffee. After pouring a huge cup I joined the dogs in the backyard. We sat watching a quick shower of rain and enjoyed the morning view - at least I did, the dogs decided to ditch me to run in the grass. As I sit staring at the sky and the palm trees I can't help but think that I need to do this more often. I never take time to enjoy the view. My morning usually begins with me running around the house with a cup of coffee in my hand which usually ends up cold before I have time to finish it. I'm actually enjoying listening to the birds chirp, but I have to admit that I'm really tempted to grab the broom and start sweeping the patio - I have relaxing issues, but I'm forcing myself to st...
My husband's plan was to come home Sunday, but after talking to the nurse he was torn on what to do. He misses his family and home, but he also wanted to be with his father through the end. We've been together since we were 18 and the longest that we've been apart is when he went to Washington, DC this year for 5 days... we're not very good at living separate lives. It's funny how you have routines that you don't even realize. Such as, him waking up early and putting the dogs out at 5:30. (Who got them on that schedule?) I tried pushing them back to 6:30 but woke up to the gift of poop - You would think they'd appreciate an extra hour of sleep, but no! Also, he has always made me a cup of coffee every morning and put it on my night stand a few minutes before I wake up. I had to motivate myself to brew a pot much less pour myself a cup. I know it's silly little things, but it's our thing. I also found that having a glass a wine in the evening alone ...
Today I am officially over the flu and ready to work. Although, I worked around the house yesterday moving furniture after my sectional left.                                                                                                   I love having this little couch in the room, but the slipcover is going to drive me crazy - it wrinkles and wrinkles bother me big time, so time to shop for slipcovers! Not sure if I mentioned that my granddaughters left for camp on Sunday. I think it's great that they're experiencing the outdoors young. My first camping experience was a freezing cold night and I was very pregnant. I still remember shivering through the night and waking up thanking God that I didn't have frostbite. I remember crawling...
Yesterday was a crazy busy day for me, but not a busy day where I felt as if I accomplished things - it felt chaotic. I started out the morning washing my car (that I never get to drive) with the help of Madison and Makenna. I met with my friend Arlene after the car wash at AJ's for coffee, which I needed desperately. I have some mountains that I'm climbing right now and at times it seems like I'm never going to get to the top - it's nice having an adult conversation with a good friend and neutral party. I still wasn't sure where my son was and if he was really okay. Thankfully someone tagged him in photos on facebook yesterday - I was able to get a glimpse of what he was doing and where he was. It seemed as if I had just showed Arlene the picture off of my phone and he called - he came home yesterday evening. Makenna and I just happened to be outside when my husband was driving up to our house. Makenna looked and saw her daddy sitting in the passenger...

Lord Clear My Mind

Power of the law of attraction... how many of you believe it? I woke up thinking about when I was younger it always worked for me.                                                         It was all written in the Bible - there wasn't the The Secret book out at that time; I believed and received, but now, not so much. I think it's because my mind is all over the board and I can't focus on anything too long before my mind is on all the things that I don't want to think about. Such as, one car is down and in the shop, my daughter uses my car for school and work - I need a car! The built in microwave is broken, need a new one, ( to zap my coffee) but I don't want to put money in a microwave when I need a car. Also, there's a mile long list of things that I need to do to my home - it's a money pit! How many more sweepstakes do I have to enter before ...
Wow! The day is slipping away from me... finally I'm at the computer. My friend Lisa stopped by for coffee this morning - we sit and talk never noticing how many hours have slipped by us.  I guess that's when you know you're real friends, right? Anyway, we talked a lot about The Shutter Release Project because I was multi tasking as we sipped coffee and ate donuts. She loves photography like me so that's a topic we both enjoy. As I've said before, I'm not a professional, just love playing with my camera and love love pictures. Also, we talked about my other obsession...fashion. She was curious on what I would be wearing to The Shutter Release Event. I showed her two dresses that are on my list - one's a one sleeve aquamarine maxi, and the other is a black to the knee BCBG dress. They both require me losing 10 pounds so we'll see - my donut didn't help the cause. Here's some shots from this week. If you see something ...

Take Time To Enjoy The Coffee

It's Monday morning and I'm just sitting enjoying my coffee. Although I drink coffee daily, I don't always have the pleasure of sitting, drinking it slowly, savoring the taste and seizing the moment. Most days it me multi - tasking with a cup in my hand, while minutes later trying to remember where I left it. Sometimes hours go by before I find it, and other times it's days before I see it again. For example, I have found it on the washing machine, in the pantry by the cereal, in my closet, by the bag of dog food, in the refrigerator, on the book shelf, by the toy basket... you get the picture. So today I'm taking a few minutes to enjoy the coffee... kind of like taking time to smell the roses. Happy Monday Everyone! "Coffee tastes like you’ve just taken one step into heaven."

The Coffee Club

Are you a member of the coffee club? It's not an official club,  just a group of 2 or more gathering at a specified coffee shop on any given day to sit and discuss life. I just got home from having coffee with a friend at the neighborhood AJ's. (our usual meeting place) This has become a weekly ritual with us. I was thinking about our little coffee sessions which range from 1-3 hours. It's just sitting and talking about what ever pops in to our heads. When I was working outside of my home I use to laugh at these people and wonder why they didn't have anything better to do, but now I get it. It's a great feeling to escape the daily grind and have conversations that don't have to be politically correct or so deep that you feel you need a degree in psychology... there's no judgement. We are women from different ethnic and social backgrounds... some of us have lived a privileged life, while others have had a life of struggle and despair. But when we're gathe...
