I left early this morning to get some shopping done, and I have to be honest - not ready to be sold on Christmas  I know it's the way retail works - I put many years into that industry, but I truly hate how overly commercialized Christmas is. They brainwash people and kids into thinking they have to have the newest and best of everything, and most people buy into the lie.  But what about the kids that their parents can't fall into the trap because financially they just can't do it. Are they made fun of or shunned by their peers because they don't have the newest clothes, gadgets, or toys?  Do they feel inferior or not worthy enough to receive - according to the advertisers you have to have it. It's not fair or right and I hate it!                                                               I think we all need to ...

Day 5

This morning we decided to walk down Mission and do some shopping, grab lunch and keep Makenna off the beach. Shopping was fun - Madison found a lot of cute school clothes at the Closet and I found an awesome purse at a cute little incense shop. We let Makenna play a few games at the arcade in the movie theater and headed to Anita's for lunch - I would highly recommend the pineapple margarita's...delicious! So it's been an uneventful day, but relaxing for me. I'm hanging out at the condo while Makenna is napping and everyone else is soaking in the sun at the beach. I'm taking advantage of her napping and everyone being gone by getting some cleaning done. Some things you never escape. Shopping Spot Arcade Drug bust on my walk home Walking back to the condo                           Have a great day! Think big thoughts, relish small pleasures.

Day 2

This morning the guys went fishing off the pier while some of us girls went running on the beach and some went shopping.                                                                                                                                            I love the little shops with all the cute and trendy styles - most of my shopping for my shop was done in California. My granddaughters were having the time of their life grabbing their clothes and running to the fitting room to try them on and walking out to model them like it was their private fashion show. Unfortunately, I had to shut it down due to a 2 year old and the nightmare jog...

Shopping Time

Today I'm meeting a friend for lunch that use to volunteer at The Clothes Silo with me. After that it's wholesale shopping for me! I'm hoping to have enough inventory by October to launch my store. I've been working the past few weeks on establishing relationships with wholesalers in India and California at this point. I still have some of my old contacts from my previous store that I will utilize as well. I'm seeing some beautiful items... can't wait to share! Peace & Love... embrace your Monday!

35 Years Ago

Thirty five years ago I was put in a taxi cab - the driver was given instructions to take me to St. Josephs Hospital. Tiffanie I gave birth that morning to my first child, my daughter...Happy Birthday Tiffanie! I was 18 years old, unmarried and living with my parents. The father of my child (my husband of 35 years) was also living at home with his parents. We were two kids that were oddly thrown together, but would stay together forever. He grew up in the foothills with the country club and I grew up in a middle class neighborhood. He told his mother that he would marry a black girl before he met me. As I've said numerous times before, I don't believe in coincidences. I look at young parents today and I can't stand how the majority of them are self absorbed and disconnected from their child. If you're not ready to give your all into raising a child, DON'T HAVE SEX! There wasn't sex education classes when I was in school, and our parents didn't si...

You Want To Know What?

I get emails asking me questions that I typically answer on a personal level, but this one I thought I'd blog. Question: Who are you? I am a wife that has been married to the same man since I was 18, a mother of five and grandmother of 8. I feel those are my bragging rights, but me as an individual - I'm a spiritual individual that loves writing, dancing, fitness, fashion, and life in general. I always thought that I could save the world - I'm still working on it. Question: What are your dislikes? I really hate washing silverware - hate putting it in the dishwasher, and hate putting it away. I dislike bullies no matter what age they are. Don't like rude and pretentious people. Not a fan of drama, don't like disloyal people and I don't like beef. Question: What do you do for fun? Drink! No, the things I do for fun no one else would classify as fun, but fun for me is crafts, re-decorating, taking pictures, gardening, going to Goodwill and hanging out at hom...

My Friday Hell Day

I have to thank God for giving me the gift to forget what a 2 year old with a bad case of the terrible 2's was like, or I'd have one child today. I took my 2 year old granddaughter out shopping and for lunch like I usually do on Fridays. She was bumping to the music as cars passed by, shopped for lipstick like she usually does, and sat and ate her pizza outside of AJ's as usual. She did her hi and bye salutations to those passing by as we enjoyed the sunshine during lunch, but the last stop... the grocery store, she had a melt down. She didn't want to get in the cart which was fine since I only needed a few items. It was when we were standing in line with the candy displayed at her level that got her. She immediately dropped the toilet paper she was holding and went in for a Milky Way. I put the Milky Way back and said you can have Skittles.. wrong move on my part. She was like the bad witch on Wizard of Oz - her body dropped to the ground and screams filled the air...

Being A Housewife

housewife   [ˈhaÊŠsËŒwaɪf] n   pl   -wives 1.  (Sociology) a woman, typically a married woman, who keeps house, usually without having paid employment. I find myself laughing at all the young girls in their 20's posting on twitter that they want to major in being a housewife. I'm curious what their definition of one would be.  I have worked outside of the home and have been a stay at home mom/housewife. Personally, I enjoy both positions, but I equally enjoy making money. Although I'm home at the moment, I'm always trying to figure out a way to hustle a dollar, but that's just me. To stay home sit and do nothing doesn't exist in my world, besides doing nothing would drive me insane. I run my home like I would my business. Things need to get done correctly and efficiently - some days you put in 12 hours, and typically you don't have weekends off.  I know with all of the reality Housewives shows many young women might get the perception that bei...

ROAD TRIP

Yesterday we did a quick road trip to Tucson to visit my son...he is currently living with my sister and brother in law.  The trip started out okay...Kelsey brought homework to work on, I brought a book and a sick two year old,( Makenna) and Tom drove. Here we are flying down the freeway listening to our jams with Makenna's arms raised in the air while squealing wee like she's on a roller coaster ride, as we drive over the ramp. Then Tom  say's, "There goes one of our hubcaps... there goes another one.             I'm hoping this isn't a sign that this is going to be a bad road trip. Seriously, we're only driving 130 miles. But shortly after the hubcaps flew off Makenna's Tylenol wore off. She wants to get out of her seat so she slips both arms out of the straps as she begins throwing everything in reach while screaming No! Yup, this is definitely the road trip from Hell. Why do I do this to myself? I knew I should of brought my wine purse pack...

$ DAYS

I don't know if any of you are resale shoppers, but I live for it. It's something I've been doing since I was in Jr. High School, aka Middle School, and I'm not talking just clothing either. Anyway, 2 years ago I was in a Goodwill killing time while waiting for my daughter to get out of school. I saw people racing around with shopping carts over flowing with fabulous finds. I have to admit I was a little jealous of their treasures, but was more curious why they were buying so much. I approached the cashier and asked what the deal was... every Thursday is $ Day. From that day forward there has been a new girl in town giving the regulars some competition. The trick is being there right at 9 am, grabbing a cart and heading straight to the designer section and begin throwing items in your cart. The reason I mention grabbing the cart is because that becomes an issue when they run out. I've been cursed out in languages I don't understand over one. But, I still have my...
