Catch Up & Mother's Day

Happy Sunday! Today is my catch up day from running around the past two days. Not sure where to begin on my to do list...my 2 year old granddaughter spent the night Friday so Saturday after taking her shopping for a new swimsuit, beach towel and heels (plastic dress up heels) for the surprise party, we came home to building a castle(unsuccessfully) for her Barbie's. What I want to do today before the clean up of make believe from Makenna is work on my mother's day projects. I'll post the pictures after the day just in case my girls are reading my blog. (which I doubt) I can show you the dessert and breakfast that we're doing for Mother's Day...can't wait! http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Strawberry-Trifle http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Breakfast-Bread-Pudding As for our meal we'll eat midday and grill hot dogs, chicken and turkey burgers - make 3 different salads and have some cocktails - of course, wine! I found this margarit...
Another crazy day... This morning photo shoot with my husbands motorcycle and Sara Evans. (photographer) Now I I have to get ready for a surprise party for my daughter that graduated from ASU. So hopefully she's too busy to read this - I don't want to be the one to ruin the surprise.  I had no idea on what to get her so I asked a few people for suggestions - went with one that I thought she'd enjoy the most. One of my friends said the gift that she remembered and loved when she graduated was a romance novel. She said, "I was finally finished reading text books so it was nice curling up to a cheap romance novel."  So I decided to make her a relaxation basket with wine, magazines, bubble bath and chocolate. I wrapped the magazines around a bath towel and tied it with ribbon, and the wine glass stem I dipped in chalk paint and wrote with chalk, You did it...relax! Came out cute - how can you go wrong with chocolate & wine.
It was a busy morning so I am finally getting around to my blog. Congratulations to my daughter Tiffanie  -  graduated from ASU today! Tiffanie (my daughter) A few quotes for all my graduates and my favorite, Everybody's Free( To Wear Sunscreen) Tom Brokaw: " You are educated. Your certification is in your degree. You may think of it as the ticket to the good life. Let me ask you to think of an alternative. Think of it as your ticket to change the world."            e.e. cummings:  "It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are." Confucius: "Wherever you go, go with all your heart." Happy Friday!

National Prayer Day

The First Thursday of May is National Prayer Day - Today, May 3, 2012 is National Prayer Day. National Day of Prayer calls on all people of different faiths in the United States to pray for the nation and its leaders. It is held on the first Thursday of May each year. http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/us/national-day-prayer Prayer lays hold of  God’s plan and becomes the link between His will and its accomplishment on earth. Amazing things happen, and we are given the privilege of being the channels of the Holy Spirit’s prayer. ~ Elisabeth Elliot

The Devil & Curve Balls

Still not feeling like writing today, but I did promise myself that I would write for a year, so I am. You know how life throws you a curve ball, or the way that I look at it is the devil attacks when you're doing something positive and you take two steps forward, then suddenly you feel like you're taking three steps back. That's my life at the moment. For those of you that don't know me well, it takes quite a bit to knock me down and take me to a spot where I begin to spiral down. But, yesterday morning I woke up feeling a bit defeated. First of all, a really good friend of mine, Karen, sent me an email telling me that her husband Jerry has cancer and they've moved to Houston for treatment. She's in the medical field so knew where she needed to go for the best treatment. Jerry is now going through 3 different chemo treatments - I feel horrible and a bit useless. All I can offer her is prayer - so that's what I'm doing. Secondly, The Shutter Rele...

Life

There's too many things going on in my head today - I  read my collection of quotes on days like this. Since I'm reading them - thought I'd pass some along. "The past is a ghost, the future is a dream, and all we ever have is now." - Bill Cosby  "After awhile you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, and you learn that love doesn't mean possession and company doesn't mean security. And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child. And you learn to build your roads today, because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans, and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight. After awhile you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much so you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you...
